| The Thunder Pumpkin Studio started in 1999 in the Heights section of Jersey City, NJ.
Like most humble beginnings it started in the apartment. The first recording was a full-length album by Boston based singer/songwriter Esther Friedman.
The studio has grown and moved since then and is now located in Lambertville, NJ. John Sonntag is the in house producer and engineer. Since he's a singer/songwriter himself the studio is tailored to those of the same. Starting with microphones all the way into the computer care has been taken investing in the best to catch that moment. This is a digital studio. Working with MOTU's Digital Performer to record and edit. Microphones include Lawson, AKG, and Shure. Microphone mic preamps and compressors are Pendulum Audio's MDP-1 and the OCL-2 respectfully. The board is a Soundcraft 200B. Other gear available: Tascam's DA88 and DA38 digital tape machines. Tascam44 - Four Track reel to reel 1/4 inch tape machine. Tascam DA-30 DAT machine. Thunder Pumpkin uses affiliate studios to handle drum sessions. Mixing and mastering for major recording projects are done outside as well. Demo mixes and the like are handled in house.
